Class Description

This joint ESPM-PMB course aims to create an inclusive space to discuss anti-racism in environmental and biology scholarship, addressing the ever-growing importance of fostering belonging and inclusivity in academia. The first portion of the course will focus on the diverse contributions of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) scholars (e.g. academics, activists, naturalists, and cultural critics), centering BIPOC voices in discussions of equity and inclusivity in the environmental and biological sciences. The second part of the course will critically engage with strategies for developing anti-racist labs, classrooms, and broader research communities. Finally, the course includes an action project component, emphasizing the transformative power of putting theory into action. This course is designed for and open to all ESPM and PMB graduate students, faculty, staff, and postdocs. Apply by July 21 using this link: https://forms.gle/kG79Bq77fvR41Sjg6
