Class Description
How can we utilize biological systems to create more innovative designs? In this course, we will dive into the process of using biological research to inform design with a major focus on hands-on design and construction. We will focus heavily on project deliverables, with lecture-based classes intended to support projects through the development of skills like 3D printing and laser cutting. The early projects are designed to support the final project. The final project will be interdisciplinary in nature but must be biologically inspired, with some hands-on components. If class continues to be online past 3 weeks, we will shift to a focus of prominent speakers in the biodesign field.
Are you thinking:
“But wait! I don’t have any experience and this seems advanced!”?
Don’t worry! This class is for you. We will cover how to make things and approach biology in a design-oriented way. We will equip you with everything you need to know to succeed in this course in a low-pressure and supportive environment.
