Class Description
The first class meeting is on September 7th.
Science Communication aims to make science more empathetic, accessible and interdisciplinary. This course will introduce students to various media of science communication and education, such as science writing, illustration, data visualization and outreach. The course will also focus on challenging binary frameworks of science with the goal of decentering western narratives in academia. We encourage students to bring their own perspectives into class as this is meant to be a collaborative and supportive environment. The course is open to both undergraduate and graduate students from any background, allowing for mutual mentorship, teaching and learning opportunities.
