Course Catalog Description

Introduction to earthquakes, their causes and effects. General discussion of basic principles and methods of seismology and geological tectonics, distribution of earthquakes in space and time, effects of earthquakes, and earthquake hazard and risk, with particular emphasis on the situation in California.

Class Notes

Earthquakes in your backyard will be delivered in a hybrid mode in Fall 2022. The lectures will be delivered in-person by Prof Allen Tu Th 11-12:30 in 245 Li Ka Shing. The lectures will simultaneously be broadcast via zoom, and will also be recorded via course capture for later viewing in bcourses.. show more
