Class Description
This joint ESPM/PMB course will create a space for the RCNR graduate community to discuss anti-racism in environmental scholarship in the age of a growing need to address belonging and inclusivity in academia. The first portion of the course will focus on identities and relevant works by Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and/or Asian (BILA) scholars (e.g. academics, activists, naturalists, and cultural critics) because it is crucial to center BILA voices when addressing equity and inclusivity in the environmental sciences. The second part of the course will critically engage with strategies for developing active anti-racist labs, classrooms, and environmental science-related research communities research community. This course is designed for and open to all RCNR graduate students, faculty, staff, and postdocs..
