Course Catalog Description
Reading and composition in connection with the study of dramatic literature. R1A satisfies the first half of the Reading and Composition requirement, and R1B satisfies the second half.
Class Description
This reading and writing-intensive course explores the relationship between consumer behaviors and the “curation” of identity both on and offline. We will trace the ways in which curation, as method and theory, has moved beyond the museum and into popular discourse. Through daily writing exercises/experiments, we will begin to unpack curation as a performative practice that permeates all facets of daily life. We will also as how the presentation of self or “curation of identity” defines and sustains neoliberal capitalism before questioning if/how such consumer practices might lead to individual and collective agency and/or catalyze social change.
