Course Catalog Description

Parametric equations and polar coordinates. Vectors in 2- and 3-dimensional Euclidean spaces. Partial derivatives. Multiple integrals. Vector calculus. Theorems of Green, Gauss, and Stokes.

* Lecture will be synchronous for the first couple of weeks of class and will then switch to asynchronous. All lectures will be recorded.

* This course is not being set to allow time conflict enrollment.

* Discussions will be hosted live during the scheduled discussion section times.

* Midterms will be held for 2 hours between 5 pm and 7pm on Thursday, Sept 24, 2020 and on Tuesday, Nov 17, 2020. Each midterm exam will be a 1-hour exam, with an extra hour provided to accommodate for various unforeseen circumstances. Plan accordingly. Do not schedule any conflicts.

* The Final Exam will be offered during the regular Final Exam Group time.

* To share your work, the instructor recommends either a tablet with a stylus, or to set up your smart phone to use it as a document camera. show less

Credit Restrictions

Students will receive no credit for Mathematics 53 after completing Mathematics N53 or W53; A deficient grade in 53 may be removed by completing Mathematics N53 or W53.
