Course Catalog Description
General introduction to plant development, form, and function; population genetics, ecology, and evolution. Intended for students majoring in the biological sciences, but open to all qualified students. Students must take both Biology 1A and 1B to complete the sequence. Sponsored by Integrative Biology.

Lecture will be held in 2050 VLSB, all enrolled students are welcome in 2050 VLSB, seating is on a first come basis. Rooms 2040 and 2060 VLSB as well as 101 LSA are available when 2050 VLSB is at capacity.

No further adds or switching sections after Friday, January 19, 2018. Midterm exams are scheduled on February 15th, March 21st, and April 26th from 7-8:15pm. For more information, see the syllabus on the course website at ib.berkeley.edu/courses/bio1b/.
Sections 225 and 226 are designed for students who are especially interested in field biology. These sections meet on Tuesdays 2-6 PM and in addition have a special section for field-related activities Thursdays 3-5 PM. Students in these sections complete a field research project in addition to the regular weekly lab exercises. Students who complete the field research component successfully receive two units of Integrative Biology 95 credit. Admittance to the field section labs is only by instructor approval. Students must first be registered in the Biology 1B lecture and a regular lab section and then request a field section application. For details, go to ib.berkeley.edu/courses/bio1b/field/fs.htm.
